Doggie Online – Welcome!

Dogs aren’t Our Whole Lives — They make Our Lives Whole

Anyone who has come to this site is probably a dog lover.

True, you may have a problem and are looking for a solution. The problem probably has something to do with your four-legged furry friend, and that is understandable.

Dogs do cause problems.

But they also bring a great deal of joy into our lives and they make us feel loved and special.

I often think back to being a child. We had a little wire-haired daschund we named Blackie.

There were a number of kids in the neighborhood, and we often spent entire days outdoors. But even during the times the other kids weren’t around, or for some reason couldn’t come out to play, it was not a problem.

Blackie was there.

The house I grew up in had a great big backyard with five or six large fruit trees that were great for climbing.  Being the only boy in our family (I had one older sister), that backyard was mine.  And Blackie’s.

With Blackie at my side we would turn trees into pirate ships. I would climb up to the crows nest and Blackie would stay on the deck and react as I would shout down orders to him.

He was a great first mate.

Other times we would pitch a tent under the clothes line and I would search the jungle outside my camp.  I was Tarzan and as I made my way through the jungle terrain, Blackie would be my faithful companion.

I remember whenever I would laugh real loud, Blackie would bark encouragement.

Whenever I cried, he would always be there for me to curl up with like a pillow. He never judged me — he would just lick the tears from my eyes.

I still remember the shock, hurt and utter devastation I felt the day Blackie somehow got out of the yard and ran into the street and was hit by a car. One of our neighbors hit him. He tried to stop, and there was no warning.

The driver felt terrible, and as crushed as I was, even at ten years old I understood that our neighbor terrible — and I never blamed him.

I have had many dogs since Blackie.  As I work on this blog, perhaps I will have the pleasure of sharing my memories doggie on lineof them with you.

In the meantime, I have set this site up to be a resource. A place to share information, ask questions, share resources.

There is only one stipulation. The subject is dogs. And only dogs.

With that in mind, we welcome your comments and suggestions.

My name is Jaime McKittrin.  My wife Beth and I are both dog lovers and have worked with dogs in various capacities. We look forward to your feedback and hope you come back often.
